TOUR ADVICE

1. Important Documents and Passport

• Bring your original passport. A photo or copy is not enough.
• Hotels and homestays may need your passport for registration. Police checks can also happen in Ha Giang.
• Border-area permits may apply depending on the route. Our team will advise when needed.
• Do not leave your passport in stored luggage. Keep it with you in a waterproof bag.
• Basic travel insurance is provided, but guests should still have their own travel insurance for full protection.

3. Cash and Personal Spending

• Main extra expenses are usually tips and drinks.
• Apart from tips, around 500,000 VND per person per day is usually plenty for drinks and small personal spending.
• This amount does not include souvenirs if you plan to buy them.
• Bring cash. Card payments and ATMs are not reliable in mountain villages.
• ATMs are easier to find in Ha Giang city before the loop starts. Small cash notes are useful.

4. Tipping

• Tipping is not required, but it is very appreciated if you are happy with the service.
• A usual reference is around 10 USD per day per guest.
• Tips are best given in cash. You can tip individually or as a group.
• There is no pressure. Please tip only if you feel the team did a good job.

5. Luggage Storage and Bike Bag

• Free luggage storage is available at the hotel/accommodation in Ha Giang before the tour.
• We are not responsible for valuables, passport, cash, electronics, or fragile items left in stored luggage.
• Bring only a small backpack on the bike for the tour days.
• Basic homestay toiletries are usually provided.
• A small towel is useful if you want to swim at waterfalls or rivers.

6. Waterproofing and Valuables

• We provide a rain cover, but mountain rain can arrive suddenly.
• Protect your passport, phone, camera, power bank, and electronics inside your own waterproof bag or zip bag.
• Items on the bike can be exposed to dust, wind, and rain. Avoid bringing unnecessary valuables.
• Keep your most important items easy to reach, but safely closed when riding.

7. Clothes, Weather, and Swimwear

• Mountain weather changes quickly. Rain is possible even when the forecast looks good.
• Bring layers instead of one heavy item: T-shirt, warm layer, and light waterproof layer.
• Winter can be cold, especially in the morning and evening.
• Wear comfortable shoes or sandals with good grip. Avoid expensive white shoes if you care about them.
• Bring swimwear when it is not cold winter. Swimming depends on weather, water level, and safety.
• Bring your own gloves if you want them. Gloves are not provided.

8. Gear Provided

• We provide helmets.
• We provide knee protection pads and elbow protection pads.
• We provide rain cover/rain protection for the ride.
• Gloves are not provided. Please bring your own if you prefer to use gloves.

9. Phone Signal, Wi-Fi, and Power

• Wi-Fi is available at most accommodations, but it can be weak or unstable.
• Mobile data is usually more useful than Wi-Fi during the loop.
• Viettel is strongly recommended because it keeps signal very well in the mountains.
• Download important information offline before the tour.
• Vietnam uses 220V electricity. Plug sockets can vary, so a universal travel adapter is recommended.
• A power bank is useful, especially for photos, maps, and long riding days.

10. Road Comfort and Safety

• Ha Giang roads are beautiful but winding. If you get motion sickness, bring your own medicine.
• Always follow your guide/easy rider instructions.
• Wear your helmet and protection pads properly.
• Do not stand too close to cliffs or risky edges for photos. Ask the guide where it is safe to stop.
• Road conditions can change because of rain, traffic, construction, or road damage.
• Tell the guide early if you feel tired, sick, cold, or uncomfortable.

11. Alcohol, Beer, and Happy Water

• Guests may be offered beer or local alcohol, sometimes called happy water.
• Drinking is completely optional. Nobody is forced to drink.
• Guests may drink at their own will, but please drink responsibly.
• Avoid drinking too much, especially before riding days.
• Do not drink and ride.

12. Drones

• Guests must comply with Vietnamese laws and local regulations.
• Drone use can be sensitive in border areas and near government or military zones.
• Ask our team for consultation before flying.
• Guests are fully responsible for their own drone, permissions, fines, violations, damage, or loss.

13. Bus Preparation

• Buses can be delayed because of traffic, weather, road conditions, construction, or other outside factors.
• If guests book their own bus, they are responsible for the timing and connection. We are not responsible for missed connections or misconnections.
• If we arrange the bus, we can help coordinate with the bus company when possible.
• When we arrange the bus, we may be able to ask for pick-up or drop-off at our address when possible, help update timing, and ask the bus company to wait or coordinate so guests do not miss the bus.
• These bus requests are not guaranteed. They depend on the bus company, traffic, road conditions, and the situation on the day.
• Most buses stop once midway for toilet, food, and rest. Please use that stop because extra stops may not be possible.
• Keep valuables with you on the bus. A light jacket is useful because buses can be cold.

14. Responsible Travel

• Respect local homes, villages, and private spaces.
• Ask before taking close-up photos of local people.
• Do not give money or candy randomly to children.
• Keep trash with you until you find a proper bin.
• Keep noise low at night in homestays and small villages.
• Follow your guide advice around border areas, local customs, and safety situations.
